What to control
- Use the same five measures each month
- Separate trend from one-off events
- List open risks with owners
- Choose three decisions, not thirty
Operating context
A monthly review is useful when it produces decisions. A deck of charts without a decision is a reporting ritual.
Use a small set of measures: occupancy, net revenue per available night, maintenance tickets, guest issues, and review score. Keep the definitions stable so the trend is readable.
A workable routine
Separate a trend from a one-off. A single bad review is an event; three lockouts in a month is a pattern.
List the open risks with an owner and a date. The list should be short enough to read aloud.
Review and evidence
Close with three decisions for the next month. Fewer decisions are more likely to be implemented than a list of thirty improvements.
